“That Administration continue exploring locations for the new off-leash dog park on the north side of Fort McMurray, specifically sites not adjacent to already develop lots, in preparation for the 2024 budget cycle.”, at this time, the Abasand Dog Park is not moving forward.

Why the Feasibility Study?

During the municipal budget meetings in February 2022, Council asked the Public Works team to do a feasibility study to see if it's paw-sible to put a dog park in Abasand. As part of that study, we are also asking Abasand dogs and residents if you would like to have a dog park in Abasand – and to choose your preferred location based on potential options that are available.

This feedback will give the Public Works team well-rounded information that can be presented to Council about the feasibility of this project. Council will then give guidance to the Public Works team as to whether or not to move forward with the project.
