Highway 48 and Thabacha Road Chip Seal Construction

September 11, 2020

Rowe’s Construction Ltd. will be in your community to commence road construction along Highway 48 between Fort Fitzgerald, Alberta and Fort Smith, Northwest Territories, Thabacha Road, Thabacha Local, and Pine Lake Road. Crews started mobilizing August 8, 2020. It is anticipated that the work will be completed June 2021.

This year, the contractor will be doing the following:

• Asphalt pavement removals

• Granular base repair, as required

• Ditch regrading, as required

• Culvert repairs, as required

The following year, the contractor will be chip sealing.

ROAD CLOSURE/DETOUR INFORMATION

In order to complete the work in a safe manner, there will be lane restrictions in the construction zones. All roads within the project area will remain open to the public at all times with a minimum of one operating lane controlled by appropriate signage and Flag-Persons. Lane closures will not exceed 3 km in length at a time. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

PARKING

Parking in the active work zone is prohibited due to space requirements for construction equipment and materials. If your parked vehicle affects the construction work, it will be moved. Should your vehicle be relocated, please call PULSE (780) 743-7000 for its location.

TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT

Traffic will be managed in the construction area for the safety of workers, road users and residents. Road users should expect delays and increased traffic on Hwy 48 and nearby main and side streets. Motorist and pedestrians are asked to obey all traffic signs.
