How we got here

Grade six students from Greely Road School wrote a letter to Mayor Sandy Bowman expressing the need for a skate park in the Gregoire neighbourhood. Mayor Bowman met with the students encouraging them to present at a Council meeting—Which they did!

Following their presentation, the Municipality engaged with residents to better understand community interests. The What We Heard Report that summarizes this public engagement is available for review.

At the Nov. 12 meeting, Council approved the following motion:

"THAT Administration add $450,000 to the 2024 capital budget for a design/build project for the purpose of constructing a youth skate park for the residents of Gregoire located at Greely Road School.”

Administration will now move forward with design plans for a new skate park in Gregoire. Thank you teachers and students for championing this idea to Council and the community.
