Elder Harvey Sykes

Mr. Harvey Sykes is an Elder from McMurray Metis Local 1935. Having spent his entire life on the river - from harvesting mussels as a child to working the shipping barges all the way to the Arctic - he has much knowledge (and commitment) to the health of its waters.


Mr. Sykes is a salt-of-the-earth man. His strength, the kind only a cold, northern community can breed, summed up in a brief sentence regarding the rivers “I almost drowned in there, but I learned to swim."
