Some of the existing regulations for portable signs include:

• There must be a minimum of 30 metres of separation distance between portable signs.
• The maximum time for a portable sign to stay on a lot is 180 consecutive days. It then must be removed from the property for 180 consecutive days.

• One sign per lot is the maximum.

In March 2025, a council motion was passed to review – and engage on – portable sign regulations in the region.

The motion:

• THAT Administration be directed to review current rules and regulations in the Land Use Bylaw related to portable signs.

• THAT this review be inclusive of community engagement, including with portable signs business owners.

• THAT any proposed recommendations related to portable signs be brought forward for Council’s consideration when such a review is complete.
