  • We want to hear from you!

The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB)’s Strategic Plan identifies downtown and waterfront revitalization as key priorities. As a first step, RMWB is improving the Snye Point Outdoor Event Space to better accommodate year-round outdoor events, including the 2022 Arctic Winter Games.

Located on lands of historical and ongoing significance, improvements to the Snye Point Outdoor Event Space will highlight culture, commemorate history, and help revitalize Fort McMurray’s downtown and waterfront. Once the Snye Point Outdoor Event Space is well under way or completed, engagement and design for the 6 km Waterfront Park (see Figure 1 below) will be the next priority.

We would like to hear from key stakeholder organizations about their preferences for improvements to the Snye Point Outdoor Event Space so it can better accommodate events such as Athabasca Tribal Council Culture Fest, the Arctic Winter Games, and other gatherings. Please respond by end of day January 6, 2021. Only one response per organization please.

Your feedback is valuable and will help us understand the community’s priorities for this important site!

We thank you for your continued support to the community we call home.

  • Each year, the Wood Buffalo Communities in Bloom committee selects a flower to be featured in local gardens. Plants are selected based on their hardiness and suitability to our region’s climate and environment.

Residents are encouraged to showcase their community pride and their green thumbs by planting the Wood Buffalo Flower of the Year. Complimentary Flower of the Year seeds will be made available to the community in the Spring.

Have your say in selecting the 2021 Flower of the Year!

Once the Flower of the Year has been voted on by the community, the Wood Buffalo Communities in Bloom committee will be selecting the specific flower variety of the chosen flower that is most suitable to our community and growing climate.
