Streetlights in Gregoire Lake Estates

Streetlights are an important part of any community for public and traffic safety, wayfinding, and a sense of place.

What We Heard Report & Survey Responses

Thank you to everyone who participated in the public engagement for this project from March 14 - 28, 2022. To find out what we heard during the engagement, click on the links to the What We Heard Report and Survey Responses.

In the Survey Responses document, please note that the Municipality removed some information from the report to comply with Alberta’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act. Section 17(1) of the Act states that the Municipality must not disclose personal information if it is an unreasonable invasion of an individual’s privacy. We have annotated FOIP Act “s.17(1)” on the report where we severed this personal information. If you have questions or concerns about the removal of information you may contact Joseph Adeleke, FOIP Officer at 780-788-4347 or email FOIP@rmwb.ca

Background

During the 2022 Municipal Budget deliberations (February 2, 2022), Administration was requested to review the streetlighting plan in Gregoire Lake Estates to determine if it meets the needs of the residents.

Through consultation with the Public Works Department and ATCO Electric, it has been determined that ten (10) new streetlights and poles will be installed, and one (1) existing streetlight and pole will be replaced. View the Streetlight Map on the right for specific locations.

Timing and Placement

It is anticipated that streetlights will be installed during the 2022 construction season. However these timelines could change based on supply chain availability and weather conditions.

The placement and density of streetlights are planned in accordance with the Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) Guide for the Design of Roadway Lighting and guided by the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo’s Engineering Servicing Standards and Development Procedures(2021).

Your feedback is important to us, though we may not be able to accommodate all lighting placement suggestions and requests based on regulations, industry best practices and safety considerations.
