What We Heard Report
The What We Heard Report is now available for you to review. Feedback from the public engagement and from online participation are included in the report.
We thank you for your input and ideas throughout the engagement process for this project. The Engineering and Public Works Departments are now reviewing all the comments and feedback.
Next Steps
After reviewing feedback from public engagement, the consultant will create more detailed designs. Next steps for this project will also be based on the project budget, public safety, available land, considerations of other uses in the area (e.g., OHV/ATV use), and guiding documents (i.e, Parks Master Plan, and Engineering Servicing Standards and Development Procedures).
We will follow up with the community before completing final design and starting construction. Stay tuned for further updates and next steps for the project.

Project Outline
The Municipality is looking to develop a new pedestrian trial and enhance beautification in Saprae Creek Estates. This project proposes a trail from the mailboxes to the entrance gate of Vista Ridge, shelter for the mailbox area, and beautification opportunities.
Saprae Creek residents were invited to share feedback on the proposed trail, trail alignment, and beautification opportunities until March 20, 2023.
This project is in the early stages of design. Feedback will help us understand the needs and wants of the community before we proceed with detailed design and construction.
Participate from March 1 - 20, 2023
Residents were invited to learn more about this project to share informed feedback. Ways to share your feedback and ideas included the following:

- Ideas – Share your vision
- Forum – Do you like the proposed trail location? Why or why not?
Important Considerations
Your feedback is important, but we may not be able to accommodate all ideas and requests. Lighting, trails, and beautification are guided by a number of documents, bylaws and standards including (but not limited to) the Engineering Servicing Standards and Development Procedures, and Parks Master Plan.
The Parks Master Plan (May 2019) is a strategic roadmap to guide planning, development, management and investment in the Municipality’s open space system. The plan also identifies priorities for parkland development in the urban service area and rural communities. With respect to this project, the Parks Master Plan recommends the following:
- The placemaking node (where the post boxes are located), should be enhanced for pedestrian use with shade trees and seating areas.
- The community of Saprae Creek Estates requires a walking trail, decorative lights, beautification at the mailbox area, update of the current flower beds and a new bridge on the current trail.
- Explore opportunities for the Saprae Creek trail system, such as installing updated trail maps and information at trailheads.
- Enhance the Saprae Creek placemaking node with amenities such as shade trees and seating areas to promote pedestrian use and create an improved sense of arrival to the neighbourhood.
Public feedback will be used as a guide to help us understand current community wants and needs, and any other considerations that will help make this project successful. The final design for this project will also be based on the project budget, available land, considerations of other uses in the area (e.g., OHV/ATV use), and public safety.
The proposed trail would be for pedestrian use only (walking, cycling), and would not be intended for OHV/ATV use.
