Saprae Creek Trail Surface Rehabilitation

Notice of Construction

August 14, 2020

The Municipality’s contractor, H. Wilson Industries will be doing surface rehabilitation work on Saprae Creek Trail between Saline Creek Parkway and Spruce Valley Drive. Our inspection of the road surface shows that it needs resurfacing to bring it to a state of good repair. This work is part of the Urban Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project. Crews are expected to start mobilizing as early as August 31, 2020 and it is anticipated that the work will be completed September 30, 2020.

The contractor will be doing the following:

• Crack repairs

• Repairs to failed asphalt areas

• Milling of the asphalt surface

• Asphalt paving

• Pavement markings

ROAD CLOSURE/DETOUR INFORMATION

In order to complete the work in a safe manner, there will be lane and road restrictions in the construction zones. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times. The work will be done in a single phase with single lane closures throughout to minimize impact.

COMMERCIAL ACCESS

Access and egress from adjacent side roads and driveways will remain available during construction, with daily alternating closures as construction progresses. We thank you for your understanding and patience as work progresses.

TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT

Traffic will be managed in the construction area for the safety of workers, road users and residents. Road users should expect delays. The contractor will utilize pilot vehicles to escort motorists through the work zone. We ask that the driving public obey all traffic control when passing workers on this section of the roadway. Please reduce speed in accordance with the posted signs when passing construction and inspection activities.

Saprae Creek Trail

5 months

IBI Group and Parkland Geomatics will be in your neighbourhood doing inspection and testing on Saprae Creek Trail between Saline Creek Parkway and Spruce Valley Drive. This work is being done to gather information for surface improvement work scheduled for the fall of 2020. The testing and inspection will take place on Thursday, May 28th from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The contractors will:

  • Drill boreholes
  • Inspect the road surface on Saprae Creek Trail between Saline Creek Parkway and Spruce Valley Drive

TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT

Traffic will be managed in the construction area for the safety of workers, road users and residents. Road users should expect delays and increased traffic on nearby main and side streets. Traffic on Saline Creek Parkway and Spruce valley Drive in the construction zones will be reduced to one lane only for the duration of the project. Motorist and pedestrians are asked to obey all traffic signs and posted signs in the construction area as well as not cross/move construction barriers.

Rural Water & Sewer Service

H. Wilson Industries will be returning to your community to continue work on the Rural Water and Sewer Service Project. Crews are expected to start mobilizing as early as May 4th. As we enter warmer weather construction zones will be setup with underground equipment on sites throughout the community. 

This year H. Wilson Industries will be doing the following:

  • Complete the water and sewer main service connections
  • Remove existing road surface to allow for underground utility work
  • Repave the road surface 
  • Restoration of construction area with sod and/or other material where required 

Upon completion of this project, Saprae Creek Estates will have an upgraded water distribution system and a new sanitary sewer system as well as new road surfaces in some areas. Work is expected to be completed October 31, 2020. However, top lift of asphalt in some areas may extend into 2021. 

SERVICE IMPACT

While construction is being done on water mains, some residences will be placed on a temporary water service. Notice will be provided prior to this happening.

Residents should expect delays and are encouraged to plan for extra travel time. In order to complete the work in a safe manner, there will be lane and road restrictions in the construction work zones. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Residents should continue to put their garbage out as per regular curbside schedule. If required, the contractor will remove bins to an appropriate location for pick up by the municipality. Please ensure that you label your bins with your address. 

LAYDOWN/STOCKPILE YARDS

This project requires three (3) laydown/stockpile yards for construction activities. The laydown/stockpile yards will be located on Spruce Valley Drive, Weiss Dr and Freestone Way. In the RMWB, stockpiles are used to store dirt whereas laydown yards are used to store tools, equipment, vehicles, dirt and other materials. Once the project work is complete, both stockpile and laydown yards will be rehabilitated back to their original state. Driveway Interruption Notice

The driveway to your residence will be inaccessible effective Tuesday, September 8, 2020 to complete the water main tie-in. It is anticipated that the closure will last approximately two (2) days weather permitting. We ask that you park East of the Construction Zone on the South side of Weiss Drive.

Temporary Road Closure Notice

August 17, 2020

The temporary road between Sol Park Drive and Janke Lane will be closed to through traffic commencing Monday, August 17th. The road is closed to facilitate a water tie-in as part of the Rural Water and Sewer Service Program.

DETOUR

Depending on your location with respect to the construction zone please use Sol Park Drive to Community Lane to Spruce Valley Drive or Weiss Drive to Spruce Valley Drive.

Driveway Interruption Notice

H Wilson Industries (2010) Ltd is currently doing construction activities in your neighbourhood that will temporarily restrict access to your driveway commencing July 6-16, 2020 weather permitting. It is anticipated that this inconvenience will be kept to a minimum of a few hours. If you are unable to enter your driveway due to construction, please park your vehicle on an adjacent side street in order to accommodate the construction activities. All parking signs and regulations must be obeyed when parking on adjacent streets.

We are working in close collaboration with emergency services to ensure your safety during the construction. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times. Pedestrian access to your property will be maintained.
