Check back in the coming weeks for opportunities to share feedback on winter maintenance.
A public survey will launch this spring, along with details on upcoming public engagement activities and in-person events.
Resident feedback will help inform updates to the Urban Snow and Ice Control Policy (OPE-150), which is set to expire this fall.
At the April 28 Council meeting, options for operational improvements will be presented. Council will select one option to move forward for public engagement and to inform updates to the policy. Review the presentation, stream the Council meeting live and learn more at rmwb.ca/Council.
Following public engagement, proposed updates to the policy will be presented to Council for consideration in a public meeting before Council's summer recess.
Survey
Past public engagement
Since the Winter Maintenance Zone (WMZ) program was introduced, we’ve consistently engaged with the community to understand what’s working and where improvements are needed. This has included thousands of survey responses and in-person conversations with residents across Fort McMurray.
That feedback has provided a clear and consistent picture of what the community expects. While not all input has led to changes each year, it has played an important role in shaping current recommendations and highlighting where bigger changes may be needed across the RMWB.
Here is an overview of past public engagement activities:
