 Project Background

The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) is adding a tee-rrific amenity to the region for disc golf enthusiasts and newcomers to enjoy. The 18-hole disc golf course located in Stonecreek in Timberlea will support and encourage community recreation and wellness of all ages. The course includes a short and a long layout to cater to a variety of skill levels and abilities. Disc golf is a growing sport locally with courses spread out throughout Wood Buffalo including Vista Ridge, and Rotary Golf Course. The Stonecreek Disc Golf Course will be free for users to enjoy.

Construction of the course started in 2022 including tree clearing, tee pad, basket installation, and began site grading and landscaping.

 What’s Disc Golf?

Disc golf is played much like golf, except instead of a ball and clubs, players use a flying disc. The sport was formalized in the 1970s and shares with golf and the object of completing each hole in the fewest strokes. The sport can be played in any season and with any disc.
