Next Steps

We are now reviewing the feedback you shared during the engagement. The Engineering team is also reviewing your feedback and will take what you had to say into consideration as part of the design for drainage improvements.

Construction for this project is anticipated (though not guaranteed) for construction season 2024. We will be following up with those of you who requested us to contact you and will provide further updates as they are available.

Thank you.

Drainage Improvements on Wood Buffalo Way

The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) is in the design stage to complete some overland drainage improvements and spot repairs on the pavement along Wood Buffalo Way in Thickwood.

Some of the improvements we are considering are located on the public road Right-of-Way (ROW) adjacent to residents' property and driveway. We’d like to keep residents of Wood Buffalo Way informed and hear about the experiences you’re having with overland drainage.

Key Considerations

At this time, we are in the design stages and anticipate that construction could happen in 2024. Construction would include making spot repairs to the road surface, modifying ditch lines to improve drainage, repositioning culverts where necessary, and changing surface materials in key locations. In some cases, driveways may be disturbed to replace culverts at new elevations to promote drainage. Disturbed driveways would be repaved up to property line.
