Thank you for sharing your feedback on aging in Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo

The surveys are now closed. The feedback collected is being reviewed and a What We Heard Report will be shared ahead of the Council presentation and update on Sept. 9, 2025.

The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is exploring the potential for an aging-in-place facility next to the Willow Square Continuing Care Centre at Hospital Street and Franklin Avenue. 📍

While the Municipality is not constructing a facility itself, it is moving forward with a feasibility study and needs assessment—designed to gather the community’s wish list for aging-in-place. As part of a Council-directed study, we’re gathering ideas from seniors, Elders, caregivers, and community organizations to understand what’s needed for seniors to live well, comfortably, and safely in the region. The feedback collected is guiding a feasibility study and will help shape any potential future development.

To ensure everyone had the opportunity to share feedback, the public survey was available in three different versions:

Printed surveys were available at select events and community locations across Wood Buffalo, including Council’s Luncheon for Seniors and Elders and Friday coffee sessions at Golden Years.

We also partnered with local organizations to distribute printed copies as part of ongoing outreach.
