Engagement Information - Winter 2022

9 March 2023

The Draper Trail was formerly a CN rail line that connects the rural RMWB communities of Draper and Saprae Creek. The 2019 RMWB Parks Master Plan identified improvements to this trail as a priority for the Draper area.

The goal of this project is to conduct a thorough review of the existing trail to determine the vision for its future use. The project includes both site investigations by consultants and public and stakeholder engagement to determine the recreational needs and desires of the community along this corridor.

First Stage of Engagement Now Closed - Next Session coming soon.

The first stage of engagement ran from November 14 - December 19, 2022. Stay tuned for upcoming engagement dates. We'll be sharing information about what we heard through the engagement process, some ideas that are feasible for the trail, and next steps for the project.

Engagement Session - Watch Video Recording

Thank you to those who joined us for a virtual engagement session on December 5. EDS Group led a discussion about key considerations and listened to feedback from residents and stakeholders.

Watch a recording of the virtual engagement to learn more about the project and hear what others had to say. You can also review the PowerPoint Presentation from the engagement on December 5. Residents were invited to learn about the project and share your feedback through the tools listed below:

  • Online Survey- Share your feedback and ideas about the trail
    • Survey opens December 5 (to coincide with the public engagement session)
  • Quick Poll - what mode of transportation do you use on the trail?
  • Map Tool - Point out hotspots along the trail
  • Ideas - Share your vision

Important Considerations

This project is for a feasibility study only. Which means, the purpose is to see what types of uses residents would like to see and examine what is possible for the trail.

After reviewing feedback from public engagement, the project will be reviewed for cost estimates, timing and other considerations. If this project is feasible, more detailed designs will be created pending final approval through the annual budget process. The timelines for potential improvements to the trail are not known at this time.

If you have any questions about the project, please contact Pulse at 780-743-7000 or at rmwb.ca/pulse.
