We're planning the next session for late October 24 and 26. For this session, we'd like to invite you to Jubilee Centre as well as an online option through Microsoft Teams.

We're looking into this and will report back to the community once we have updates.

A consultant has been hired and they are investigating the best locations to install monitoring equipment. A draft plan has been developed identifying locations for the equipment. Once this plan has been approved, crews will begin installation. 

Please note that crews will likely avoid winter season and install equipment when the ground is softer. We will keep you informed once more details are available.

Administration is reviewing this to confirm what activities may or may not be approved in the area.

You can expect to hear engagement opportunities in November 2022 to get your feedback on the Draper Trail Feasibility Study.  

For this study, the consultant (EDS) will assess existing conditions for the Draper trail that currently connects Saprae Creek with the designated OHV staging area at Tom Weber Boat Launch (approx 15 km).  

The purpose of the study will help understand residents' needs of the trail and the vision for future use of the trail.

We’ve hired EDS Group Inc. to head up this feasibility study, and they’ll be reaching out to residents and community groups to get your feedback and ideas. EDS is familiar with our region and have already done work for the OHV Master Plan Update, and Abasand OHV Staging Area.

In March of 2021, a news release was provided indicating flood recovery was continuing for Draper residents. The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) is developing a grant program for Draper, as part of the proposed program the RMWB is surveying properties near or below the 250.9- metre elevation mark. Survey results will support assessments for flood mitigation options for homeowners, the initial round of surveys is complete.

The Alberta Municipal Government Act requires all municipalities in Alberta to adopt a Land Use Bylaw (LUB). The LUB regulates the use and development of land and buildings within the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. The purpose of the LUB is to:

• Divide the Municipality into land use districts.
• Determine the set of rules for each land use district, including permitted and discretionary uses.
• Establish the development permit and rezoning process.
• Regulate standards for the height, size and location of buildings.
• Determine parking, landscaping and building design standards.
• Implement the vision of the Municipal Development Plan and area structure plans.

An Area Structure Plan is a detailed framework for the subsequent subdivision and development of an area of land. They are also created to targeted communities.

An MDP is a blueprint on how a region will evolve, thrive, and expand for the next 20 years. The plan’s structure includes a vision statement, goals, and policies that support implementation of the plan.
