This project began as a community-initiated public engagement, sparked by letters to the mayor and followed by the March 28, 2023 presentation from Henk Ueffing and the Grade 5 and 6 students from Greely Road School to Council.

On March 28, 2023, Council passed the following motion:

“THAT the request from Henk Ueffing and the Grades 5 and 6 students from Greely Road School for a Skate Park in Gregoire, be referred to Administration to review and bring back a report for consideration of Council.”

Administration will present their recommendations along with the community feedback to Council.

At the October 25, 2023, Council meeting, the following motion was made:

“THAT the matter be referred to Administration for further investigation on design concepts including size requirements and budgetary considerations.”

The Gregoire Skate Park is scheduled on the Council meeting agenda for Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 6 p.m.* At this time, Administration will present a report to Council covering the requested details on design concepts, size requirements, and budget considerations.

At the November 12 2024, Council meeting, the following motion was made:

"THAT Administration add $450,000 to the 2024 capital budget for a design/build project for the purpose of constructing a youth skate park for the residents of Gregoire located at Greely Road School.”
